Mission House Bakery launched in April 2025, Combining Artisan Baking for Local and Global Ministry Efforts.

David Cummings, a highly regarded figure in the baking industry, is thrilled to announce the launch of Mission House Bakery,  a nonprofit bake house dedicated to providing exceptional baked goods while supporting global ministry initiatives.

Cummings, who recently retired as the director of bakery at The Fresh Market—where he played a pivotal role in the bakery merchandising department and helped secure the title of USA Today Readers Poll’s 2023 #1 grocery in-store Bakery in America—brings over 50 years of experience to this new venture. His journey began at the age of 13, when he started “making the donuts” at his family’s Dunkin’ Donut shop and has since evolved into a passion for specialty baking.

Mission House Bakery will focus on small-batch scratch baking, utilizing the highest quality ingredients to create artisan and seasonal desserts and pastries. The bakery aims to serve both businesses and church members, fostering a sense of community through its offerings. Cummings has previously worked for and collaborated with industry giants such as Pillsbury, General Mills, and the Iconic Fairway Markets in New York City, which has equipped him with the expertise to deliver best-in-class baked goods. With a commitment to philanthropy, all profits from the bakery will be directed towards supporting local as well as global ministries locally in the Greensboro, Burlington NC areas as well as in countries like Nicaragua, Honduras, Eswatini, Cambodia, and Ukraine.
